eBay
eBay's picture policy says every listing needs at least one photo of at least 500 pixels on the longest side. It does not allow photos that do not accurately represent the item, stock photos for used or damaged items, added borders, added text or marketing material, or watermarks of any kind.
Etsy
Etsy recommends listing photos at least 2,000 pixels wide and high, and says your first photo should be at least 635 pixels wide and high to avoid showing lower in searches. Images over 1MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection. Leave enough space around the product so thumbnails can be cropped to square, portrait and landscape.
